I managed to shave a great five shots off my routine score recently, and the great thing about it is that I modified nothing about my physical game but only my mindset towards the round. After battling for a couple of months now shooting between 90 and 95 and hitting a severe plateau I was growing seriously frustrated because no matter what I tried to change about my game I simply just could not go lower. I even believed learning golf was so troublesome until I wanted to gave up.
After shooting a score identical to this for around the 5th time I was sitting thinking about the round and I noticed something so straightforward but I had never came across the thought previously, that I could simply manage the round to stop the double bogies. It was the easiest thing and yet I had never thought about it, the problem was that facing difficult shots around the course I would start to look like Tiger Woods and aim to put the ball three feet from the hole. If I had attempted to play the flop shot I would have finished in the bunker, be lucky to get out within 15 meters of the hole and at best get a double leaving the whole ready to hit my next drive. By playing safe and maintaining my cool I would save minimum one shot possibly two and leave the whole feeling average to good concerning playing the next hole.
